SIGMA’S 2008 SPRING CONVENTION
Tom Bliley Will Speak During 2008 Spring Convention General Session

WASHINGTON – April 10, 2008 – The Society of Independent Gasoline Marketers of America (SIGMA) is pleased to announce that Tom Bliley, Senior Government Affairs Advisor at Steptoe & Johnson LLP, will be a keynote speaker at the 2008 SIGMA Spring Convention in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

At Steptoe & Johnson, Bliley serves as member of the Government Affairs & Public Policy practice focusing on government relations. He has an extensive background in government relations, the legislative process and political advocacy strategy, which stems from an active political career.  He was elected to the Richmond, Virginia, City Council, serving as mayor from 1970-1977, and he represented Virginia’s Seventh District in the U.S. House of Representatives for 20 years.


“Tom Bliley’s experience in the U.S. House of Representatives and his knowledge of government relations is what SIGMA appreciates,” said SIGMA Executive Vice President Kenneth A. Doyle. “Mr. Bliley understands what is important to SIGMA members and having him speak at the Spring Convention is an honor.”


Bliley will discuss effective lobbying strategies as well as the upcoming presidential election and its effect on the issues and concerns important to SIGMA members at the Business Meeting & General Session on Tuesday morning, May 20.
