Federal Appeals Courts Issue Conflicting Rulings on Healthcare Reform Law
As SIGMA previously reported, two U.S. Courts of Appeals issued conflicting rulings this week on a major provision in the healthcare reform law known as the “Affordable Care Act” (or “Obamacare”). The courts were considering the availability of subsidies to individuals who purchase healthcare coverage through federal exchanges created under the law. For the time being, the cases are unlikely to change how Obamacare will be implemented. It is unclear when they will be finally resolved, but that decision could ultimately be made by the Supreme Court.
