SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS (SIGs)
Eligibility
SIG membership is open to SIGMA members (owners, management, and employees). Because each SIG is unique and most are concerned with a particular functional area or topic, members may join more than one group. Some restrictions apply to membership in certain SIGs.
Confidentiality
Wherever possible, SIGMA forms groups made up only of non-competitors. A non-competitive environment builds confidence, allowing the free discussion of business and personal topics. A key element to the success of each SIG is to establish a high level of trust within the group. You can expect that there will be a confidentiality arrangement made within your group. If it is impossible for a desired group to be made up of non-competitors, each participant must agree, in advance, to adhere to SIGMA’s strict antitrust policy.
Training
SIGMA provides each group with training designed specifically for marketers by The Evans Group, a nationally-known firm specializing in Special Interest Groups. You will receive all the benefits of their years of experience to ensure your group’s success. Each participant will attend a two-day program led by The Evans Group to get started. This program explores group dynamics and enhances everyone’s communication skills. Each new SIG will be walked through the process of determining how the group will work together, deciding when it will meet, and establishing its ground rules.
Costs
All groups are self funding. Each group decides how much it wants to spend and on what. SIGMA charges a small administrative fee based on the services the group requests.
Special Requests
Many owners and principals would like to see how their financial statements and operations compare to other marketers’. A group could decide to retain an outside consultant to help make its members’ financial statements comparable. SIGMA is happy to help find outside help in any area of interest to the group. We welcome special requests!!
