SIGMA 50th Anniversary

SIGMA 2008 Spring Convention

Government Affairs

Representing the interests of marketers in the legislative and regulatory process at the federal level is one of SIGMA’s key missions. One of the more compelling sessions at our Annual Meetings and Spring Conventions is the Legislative Committee meeting, where SIGMA’s positions on the issues are first discussed. Ultimately, the association’s official positions are adopted by the Board of Directors.  Then members, staff, and lobbyists all work together to ensure that the voice of independent  motor fuel marketers is heard on Capitol Hill.

SIGMA’s Legislative Committee recognizes the importance of educating consumers on price and environmental issues, then enlisting their support to effect change.  And it is sometimes important for marketers to contact governmental representatives and agencies individually and directly.
