CARPE DIEM!

Paul D. Reid, SIGMA President“G’day mate!” Next March, SIGMA is going “Down Under” and we hope you can join us for a once in a lifetime experience—the SIGMA International Study Tour to Australia. Networking is one of the hallmarks of the SIGMA experience and there is no better way to experience this than with the intimate setting of a study tour.

Study you say? Yes, study! We will diligently delve into ALL aspects of the Australian market and culture, if you know what I mean. Officially, we will meet with our fellow Australian marketers and their association and learn about Australian business and markets. We will tour Sydney, Port Douglas and their surroundings, including the beautiful Blue Mountains and Hunter Valley Wine Country, the Great Barrier Reef, and the magic of the Mossman Gorge. Unofficially, our agenda includes… well, we will leave that to our group’s creativity and funloving zest for life, to say nothing of the warm hospitality of our Australian counterparts. Our last International Study Tour to London in 1992 was a smashing success. Who knows when we might venture forth again, so don’t miss out on what will no doubt be one of your most memorable and exciting industry experiences.

Speaking of exciting experiences, you absolutely owe it to yourself to come to Boston this fall. Conference chairman Richard Salinsky and SIGMA staff are planning what will be one of the most over-the-top Annual Meetings ever. As you have been reading, Gulf Oil will be our Official Sponsor of the Annual Meeting. Joining in to enhance our meeting are sponsorships from CITGO and MC LANE COMPANY. These companies’ significant contributions will certainly make Boston THE meeting to beat! Unlike most of our annual meetings that are held in November, this year we are tying our meeting in with the beautiful New England fall foliage and meeting OCTOBER 12-14. Our annual meetings are always rich in education and provide great networking opportunities. Plus, the meeting is just an all-around good time. I look forward to seeing you in Boston this fall.

But, before the leaves start to turn, it’s time to enjoy the summer sun. If you have not gotten around to it yet, consider spending some time away from the rigors of work before the warm season escapes you. Once clear of the Summer Legislative Meeting (hope to see you there as well), I will be making Lake Ontario boating a much higher priority, along with other boating related “activities”. Then, it’s off to Lake George in August to spend time with my brother’s family on their Carver yacht. Additionally, we plan to enjoy some picturesque Adirondack hiking that is sure to provide a perfect end to summer before the school and work season returns after Labor Day. I hope your summer includes some time to relax and enjoy some fellowship with your family and friends.

Enjoy!
