SIGMA Safety Comparator Project

The Safety Comparator Project is a benchmarking project to compare the number of OSHA recordable case incidence rates, days of restricted work activity, or job transfer (DART) rates and severity rates amongst SIGMA member company owned and operated convenience stores. All members who participate in benchmarking safety statistics can evaluate their safety record compared to the safety performance of other convenience store companies in the same industry.

Sharing this information, in conjunction with best practices, will assist a company in measuring their successes as well as allow the company to determine where their focal points should be within their own safety program. Employing a systematic focus and awareness on safety by sustaining a solid safety program with benchmarking will provide a safe work environment for valuable employees while reducing the high costs and adverse financial impact from accidents and incidents.

SIGMA encourages you to participate in this project by supplying data via the SIGMA Safety Statistics Comparator Template. If you have questions or wish to submit your completed template, please contact Altreca Stark, Director of Education, by email, or by fax at: (703) 709-7007.

Data collection and analysis takes place on an ongoing basis, so please attend future SIGMA meetings to learn about updated findings of this project.

For more detailed information on the project download the SIGMA Comparator Proposalpdfand Safety Comparator Spreadsheet Template (example)excel.
