SIGMA 50th Anniversary

SIGMA 2008 Spring Convention

MARKETER OPERATIONS COMMITTEE

This is a committee dealing with the complex and technical operational issues of the petroleum marketing business.  Its purpose is to provide marketers an opportunity to learn from each other and to gather, summarize and provide technical information on motor fuel marketing to the Communication and Education Committees.  The Committee will strive to keep members informed on techniques and ideas to enhance revenue, reduce costs, foster equal competition and maintain the Independent Marketer segment’s competitive viability.

The Committee is responsible for researching and studying, in conjunction with staff, the overall operational needs of SIGMA members. Within SIGMA’s Anti-Trust Guidelines, the Committee has free reign to explore all areas of operations to reduce marketer costs and increase profit potential.  It is expected that this committee will create, as needed, limited duration discussion groups to work on specific ideas and/or Task Forces to focus on special projects.

The committee is a resource for explaining the impact on marketers of various governmental proposals. The committee is the technical arm of the Legislative Committee to help determine what marketers can and cannot live with, plus what members would consider reasonable and/or desirable.  The committee also works with counsel to help SIGMA explain regulations to members and to receive input from members concerning their problems in implementing rules and regulations.

The committee, if called upon, meets directly with public and government officials to explain the technical realities of motor fuel marketing and to lobby in favor of SIGMA's position. .
