LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE

The Legislative Committee, working closely with Legislative Counsel, has the responsibility to study, discuss and recommend to SIGMA's Board of Directors positions on matters concerning legislative activities and government relations.  Legislative Counsel suggests strategy for Legislative Committee review and Board approval.
 
An important reason for SIGMA's existence is to defend the interests of SIGMA's members in the governmental arena.  The Committee provides input to staff and counsel and ensures that members' positions on issues are properly represented.  The Committee acts as a resource for advice on technical matters.
 
The Committee is responsible for:

Developing an informed, aware and politically active membership that will constitute a formidable legislative force.

Motivating members to contact Congressional members when needed.

Seeking to ensure that all laws and regulations enacted or promulgated, that affect Independent Marketers, are evaluated using cost benefit analyses.

Ensuring maximum supply options for Independent Marketers through government actions that recognize and nurture the free market system.

Ensuring that the Independent Marketing Segment is not damaged as a result of Legislation or Regulation.

Reducing the burden on Independent Marketers of complying with existing and new laws and regulations.
