SIGMA 50th Anniversary

SIGMA 2008 Spring Convention

FINANCE COMMITTEE

Effective management of financial resources is important to the success of any organization, and SIGMA's Finance Committee works hard to ensure that fiscal responsibility is a priority.    The Finance Committee works with staff to develop the association’s annual budget based on the recommendations of all committees, then submits the budget to the Board for consideration and approval.  Additionally, the  Committee examines SIGMA's quarterly financial statements and the Annual External Audit, reporting to both the Board and the general membership on SIGMA's  financial condition.

While staff is responsible for handling day-to-day receipts and disbursements, the Committee oversees equipment acquisition and other operating expenses, advises on investment of SIGMA's surplus funds, and performs annual dues review and assessment.

The Finance Committee is a Board subcommittee that meets on the second day of each three-day Board meeting. The  Committee is expected to make recommendations to the full Board, and to reconvene as necessary to complete its work.  Additional meetings are scheduled as needed.
