EDUCATION COMMISSION

The purpose of this Committee is to attract and host educational resources and first-rate presenters of information to benefit members.  The committee focuses on what education members need and the best way for SIGMA to deliver that information.  Methods of delivery include, but are not limited to, SIGMA’s two conventions, the Winter Management Conference, Masters Programs, and other meetings as needed.  
 
The Committee is made up of a chairman and four meeting chairmen (one for each meeting and the Masters Programs).  The chairman is responsible for securing a feature speaker and any funds to sponsor the featured speaker six months before the Annual Meeting and six months before the Spring Convention.  The Committee may use various methods to determine the needs of members including conducting surveys.  The Committee solicits and receives recommendations on subjects, topics and potential participants on presentations of interest to members.
 
The entire Committee helps the staff solicit sponsorships.  The Committee and the specific meeting vice chairman should work closely with the staff to ensure complete harmony between the content, the logistics and the educational presentation.  The Committee and the vice-chairmen should work closely with the staff to ensure that each meeting delivers what members need and expect.
 
For both conventions, and the Winter Management Conference, the Committee, with staff’s help, is responsible for:

Determining member’s needs

Developing program topics

Finding and securing all speakers  

Each vice chairman, along with staff, is responsible for:

Developing the theme

Creating promotional ideas

Brainstorming other special events

SIGMA Staff is responsible for:

Organizing speaker logistics

Staging of programs

Executing all events

Building relations with hotels and other ground operators

Budgeting meeting’s costs

Promoting the meeting

Detailing any other arrangements
